Our English Lab Boys

The Stocky, Blocky, Ready, Willing, Gentle Teddy Bears.

All of our adult Labs meet our health clearance standards.

We take reasonable steps by health testing all of our adults to cull out the likelihood of of genetic health issues being in our lines or passing through our lines.  We want you to welcome a pup that is healthy and that will be a part of your family for many, many years.  We test Hips, Elbows, Eyes, Heart on each of our dogs for starters.  Please, feel free to ask if you have questions about these health clearance tests.  We believe that if we set our bar high then we will have healthy companions for you!

Miles~ WHL Miles from Home Nip and TeagueBlack Labrador Retriever

We are thrilled to be able to welcome Miles into our program.  He is such a sweet, inquisitive boy with an ease and gentleness about him.  He loves to be with his people to be sure but he is a best buddy with all of the other dogs as well.  Every being loves Miles.  To add to his resume of great traits would be his looks.  A solid top-line including the thick otter tail with the broad English chest and the solid rear make it a delight to look at Miles.  His sparkly eyes respond in novels after he intently listens to his people.  He has many champions in his lineage and we believe that many of these confirmed traits came his way as well.  His sire, Nipntuck All Aces “Gamble” also sired the Best in Sweeps winner at Potomac, 2017-Nipntuck Well Played.  Some names of possible recognition in his close generational lines are BISS GCH Dickendall Ironore Bluefish, Int CH Dual FR CH Carromer Charlie Chalk and CH Shannon Valley’s Beauregard.  Miles is a champion in our eyes as well even if he doesn’t get the opportunity to prove it at shows.  He has our hearts.

    Guarantee
    February 2, 2017

    Our Guarantee

We have a great guarantee: 26 Months Hips and Eyes

This is an outline of the guarantee that will be signed by the adopting family and Welcome Home Labs.

Your new puppy is guaranteed to be in good health and to be virus free for three days from the date the puppy is received. Parasites are a common problem in animals, especially young animals, and are easily treated; therefore these are excluded from this guarantee.

This dog has a guarantee that the hips will receive a grade of fair or above at 26 months of age from the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), and that his/her eyes will pass a Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF) test at 12 months of age, or we will apply the full purchase price of your puppy toward the price of a puppy from a future Welcome Home Labs litter, the puppy will be chosen by Welcome Home Labs. Replacement puppy must be received within 24 months of notifying us of your puppy’s situation.

For this guarantee to remain active, all of the following conditions must be met:

    1. Dog has been registered with the AKC and has not been transferred to a new owner. Microchip number on any documents from the vet, OFA, AKC and any others must match the microchip number that was given when the pup went to your home.
    2. Signed statement from the OFA or CERF that hips or eyes respectively will not certify with a grade of fair or above. (We reserve the right to have our own Vet’s opinion.)
    3. In cases of full registration, dog has not been used as a stud or whelped a litter prior to certification of hips and elbows by OFA.  All limited registration dogs from Welcome Home Labs must not have whelped or sired a litter at anytime.
    4. Dog and AKC papers are returned to us. (You may choose to keep your dog, but papers must still be returned and he/she must be spayed or neutered).
    5. There must be no signs of injury, abuse, neglect and dog must be neither over weight nor over exercised, or guarantee is void
    6. No puppy/dog will ever be placed in a shelter. Always call us first if you cannot take care of him/her. We will take him/her back and find a good home for him/her.

Welcome Home Labs will not be responsible for any travel/shipping expenses, either for receiving a replacement puppy or returning an unhealthy puppy. We will not be responsible for ANY vet expense or diagnostic testing for any reason; including spaying/neutering.

This guarantee in whole is to replace the dog. We will honor the guarantee once proof of the dog’s condition has been provided and we have confirmed diagnosis with a vet of our choosing. Because we hope this dog will become an important member of your family, it is not necessary to return the dog or have it put to sleep to collect on this agreement. We trust you to make a responsible decision regarding euthanasia considering quality of life for your dog.

Should you have a problem but want to keep your dog, we will, upon proof of dysplasia or covered eye defect, require that he/she must be neutered/spayed and proof of the same provided to us.

A written purchase agreement will be signed and dated for this guarantee to be legal.
This will be completed prior to the puppy pick- up.

    Lab Breeder in Iowa

Welcome Home Labs offers champion bred Labrador Retrievers.

We are located in the beautiful country side west of Washington, Iowa (Southeast Iowa).  We are approximately 45 miles south of Cedar Rapids, IA.

It is our passion and privilege to provide quality champion bred English Lab puppies to individuals and families.

The English Lab is known to be gentle, intelligent, willing, quick to learn, athletic, therapeutic, great with kids and has the focus and trainability to be an excellent hunt companion or service dog.

The English Lab has a stocky, blocky build for a stunningly gorgeous, moderately sized dog coupled with a loving family temperament.

The puppies are born in our home. Raising pups in our home allows us to monitor their health and growth closely and we are also able to enjoy the precious peeps and movements from the first moments of life.

We believe that the social and emotional development is important during the English Labs first days and weeks so we start them out with love, family care, daily handling and socialization.

As they grow we expose them to a variety of experiences so they can become well adjusted adult family companions.

We strive to provide hard working families high quality Labradors at a fair price.

In addition to the care and socialization provided we perform health clearances on our adults to ensure healthy genetics for our puppies.

    These tests include

    • OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) x-rays for hips and elbows with a rating of GOOD or EXCELLENT and
    • OFA for heart, CERF/CAER for eyes by an ophthalmologist, Optigen(prcd-PRA), CNM (centro nuclear myopathy), EIC (exercise induced collapse), RD/OSD (retinal dysplasia/oculo skeletal dysplasia) and cardiac testing.

We operate with honesty and integrity.

    Quast Family

Been awhile since we sent pictures or a message, Here are some over the past month or so. He now has all his shots and is enrolled in puppy school, which he loves. But most of the time he just wants to play with other puppies. Bringing him around to our families over thanksgiving and meet all of our friends everyone has told us how cute calm and intelligent he is. Still he has yet to go to the bathroom in the house and aside from finding any little thing on the floor he seems to understand he can’t eat them and will just bring what he finds to us, maybe he knows he’s cleaning or maybe he just wants to play with it lol. We go on long walks and runs everyday and he never shows a sign of fatigue till we get back to the house. There is a nice open path where we walk and we let him run free off a leash as we walk and he never gets too far from us. Eventually as he gets older and more aware we will get a longer lead lead so he can still run but not take off after a rabbit or pheasant ( Has tried until he realized how they fast they  were ) We shot a gun around him for the first time and didn’t really know what to think at first he was kind of scared and wouldn’t move but when he saw we were fine he started to get excited. Hope you guys a good thanksgiving and have a good christmas.

    Hi,

Thought I’d give you a brief update on Lucy’s progress. She is doing great! She sits, shakes, lays down and rolls over. At 14 weeks, we think she might be gifted! Lucy brings much fun and excitement to our house. She now Weighs 26 pounds and is growing quickly. She goes up the stairs in our 2 story house but will not come down them. She barks at us until we go fetch her and carry her down the stairs. She is training us real well!

I own a dance studio so thought it only appropriate to dress Lucy up in a tutu for Halloween. She is so much fun and we are spoiling her rotten. I attached a couple pictures that I thought you might enjoy.

She has been to a few social outings. Michael, our son, plays rugby for St. Johns in Collegeville, MN. It’s common to bring your dog to the games. Lucy has been to a few games to watch Michael play all over the state.  Michaels nick name on the rugby team is “Soda Pop” . Lucy’s nickname is “Soda Pup”.  The big burly boys on the rugby team play with her and she gets a lot of attention, which she loves.

Lucy brightens every single day and we can’t imagine not having her.  You can’t be in a bad mood with a puppy around.

Thank you so much. We are so grateful to have Lucy in our lives.
